About Oersoep
Oersoep is a Brussels based open collective backed by a registered non-profit. We are an always-changing and growing group of people active across music, stage and media, who have decided to crash our own party by inviting in the uninvited.
What does this mean?
By actively joining forces with specialized non-profits and other like-minded allies in as many projects as possible, we can share our beautiful, but sometimes unreachable, world with those for whom it is not easily reachable: the kids, the unschooled, the undocumented, the detained.
The unheard, the unseen, the locked in and the locked out.
In practice, our goal is to build confidence through real, hands-on experience. Every project we take on is a chance for someone to learn, welcoming any level of commitment, and anyone curious enough to join. No prior experience required.
This way, we can continue doing the projects we love as a collective while also sharing the messages that once helped us grow.
"What's with all the soup?"
The name Oersoep comes from the Dutch word for primordial soup, the theory that all life began in a kind of "microbe soup" in Earth’s early oceans. For us, it symbolizes potential. A way to see everyone who joins us not by their baggage, but as a fresh beginning.
